Khanom Tako

Khanom Tako is a mildly sweet Thai dessert , originally made from Mung Bean flour, water chestnuts, topped with coconut cream...served in a fresh Pandan leaf or banana leaf case. You can substitute water chestnuts with sweet corns, lotus seeds, taro and purple yam cut in small dices. It is best eaten chilled.
In Malaysia, there's a local dessert called "Kuih Tako" which is exactly the same as "Khanom Tako" in Thailand (ingredients and pandan case) Isn't that amazing!!! However, in Malaysia, pears and turnips are used as alternative ingredients for water chestnuts...
Note* Both in Thailand and in Malaysia, a red or pink rose petal is often used as a garnish on top of coconut cream bed.
I had alternative idea, using gold leaf...which reminds me of our uniquely graceful Thai arts, especially Buddha sculpture as well as wooden Thai crafts...
p.s There's a saying: "Greece has its mind in the West and its heart in the East"... hmm I can relate! ;)
